Week-end in the “Little Paris” - 2 nights city break in Bucharest - 4* hotel

Day 1, Bucharest

Welcome to Bucharest!  Our English speaking guide will collect you from Bucharest Airport.

Enjoy a city tour to find out why the Romanian capital was once christened “the little Paris”: the Arch of Triumph, Romanian Athenaeum, Old Princely Court.

Visit major highlights such as the Parliament Palace the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, and the largest administrative centre in Europe, built by the dictator Nicolae Ceausecu. Visit next The National Art Museum housed in the former Romanian royal palace. You can visit here the European Art Collection and Gallery of the Romanian Art, a fine selection of drawing and prints, decorative art, and oriental art.

An architectural jewel, Stavropoleos Church is a must see as well. Built in 1724 by a Greek monk the edifice is a combination of Romanian and Byzantine architecture with beautiful frescoes and wood painted icons.

For an authentic Romanian culinary experience we recommend for dinner Pescarus Restaurant, one of the finest restaurants in Bucharest where the tasty traditional Romanian cuisine is complemented by the lively and animated atmosphere with Romanian folk music.

Day 2, Bucharest – Snagov - Bucharest

Visit in the morning the Village Museum, located on the shores of Herastrau Lake in Herastrau Park, a gorgeous natural setting. It is the largest outdoor museum in Europe displaying peasant settlements representing the history and design of Romania’s rural architecture.

An excellent restaurant option for lunch is Carul cu Bere (Beer Cart Restaurant) dating back to 1879, an exquisite neo-gothic building which will surely rise up to your culinary expectations.

Drive to Snagov to visit Snagov Monastery where, according to the legend, Vlad was buried after his assassination. The monastic establishment is located on a small island of Snagov Lake so you’ll also enjoy a boat trip across the lake. The architectural style of the monastery follows the architectural pattern that is characteristic to the monasteries on the Holy Mount of Athos in Greece.

Return to your accommodation in Bucharest.

Day 3, Bucharest – Otopeni Airport

Transfer to the airport for the return journey.

Bucharest-Snagov-The Old Princely Court - Dracula

Prepare to immerge into the legend. You will be collected by our guide from your accommodation in Bucharest. Drive to Snagov to visit Snagov Monastery where, according to the legend, Vlad was buried after his assassination. Return to Bucharest.

Visit The Old Princely Court. The building was about 160 sq. m. wide and also had a tower. During Vlad the Impaler's reign a new fortress was built, in rectangular shape and of over 600 sq. m. with many cellars. By the end of the 15th century the fortress was almost 1000 sq. m. wide, with the followers of Vlad the Impaler continuing his work (Basarab the Young, Mircea the Shepherd). In 1972, on the site of the former Princely Court an open air museum was opened for public visitation, displaying fragments from different stages of the fortress development. We'll only enjoy an exterior look of the museum.

Enjoy a special Dracula dinner in a Dracula themed restaurant, with an ambience faithfull to the fictional hero. Each of the three dining salons feature a distinct decor. In the Transylvanian Room one can find hand-carved chairs, service plates from the ceramics center of Corund, a ceiling of wooden shingles, and walls adorned with pottery, festival masks, reminding the diners of the Count's home turf.
There is a Dracula show, free of charge during Thursdays and Fridays from arround 21.00.
